![]() ![]() This film portrays a sort of madness you can choose to accept or reject when you are faced with too much power and control. He gets to have full control over who she is, though, and anything he writes about her becomes a part of her instantly. After taking some advice, he decides to write up a character– the girl of his dreams, full of life and everything he ever wanted. A writer lives a fairly sad life and is having trouble writing his next novel. Starring Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan, this film had a pretty unique plot as far as quirky films go. More than anything, my watching experience with this film was a lot of fun it was a lot of laughing at how cheesy the "deus ex machina" was. It starts with Daniel scribbling the words "deus ex machina" into his journal and finding the same words printed on the back of a girl's jacket - their story starts there. You have your tortured young artist who is being forced into medical school and falls in love with a girl that does not believe in love. The film stars Charles Melton, who you may remember from Riverdale – and that should be telling enough about how this film goes. I've never actually read the book, so I'm not sure how well it was adapted, but it was a fun watch regardless. The Sun is Also a Star is a film that's based on a book by Nicola Yoon. If you're looking for a film that makes you go, "what am I watching, and how did I end up here?" this should definitely be your go-to. This film was just about as strange as you'd expect it to be and took a couple of emotional turns that, I hate to admit, actually got me. With the bizarre concept of the storyline, it's hard to take it entirely seriously. Starting with the film that inspired me to write this article, Looks That Kill follows the main character, Max, who is so beautiful that he has to keep his face wrapped up in bandages, or anyone who sees him quite literally dies on the spot. I hope you find at least one to your interest and it gives you a little bit of joy too! Looks That Kill (2020) Here I've compiled a list of some of my favourite quirky films thus far. Films that have plots that make you wonder about whoever came up with the idea for them. Sometimes I watch movies not because they're known for being good but because of how especially bad they are. I really enjoy quirky, romantic, coming-of-age feel-good films, they're like pick-me-ups when I've had a bad day, and I love immersing myself in all their colourful worlds. ![]() I've been told I have a very peculiar taste in films. ![]()
